We are delighted to announce that the merger between the long established Sheffield and Keighley based drug and alcohol charity, Project 6, and Doncaster Alcohol Services (DAS) has now got full Board approval and is going to go ahead on 1st July 2020. The merger means that DAS will be part of Project 6 and operate as ‘Project 6 Doncaster”.

The DAS Board, some of whom are going forward to join the Project 6 Board, would like to thank the many organisations, colleagues and Doncaster residents who have supported DAS over the years and to ask for their continued support going forward in the new venture. They wish to assure people that there is a common agreement that the legacy of DAS in Doncaster will not be lost as a result of this merger.

As a combined organisation we will employ over 55 staff across West and South Yorkshire who are all committed to our core purpose of providing opportunities and choices for individuals, families and communities affected by substance misuse and complex needs, to create meaningful and sustainable change in their well-being.

The current DAS CEO, Callum Dixon, will be remaining in post until the end of July during which time he will be in contact with stakeholders and partners to say goodbye. From 1st August, Vicki Beere, current Project 6 CEO, will provide leadership across all sites, with support from an excellent Senior Leadership Team.

Callum Dixon, DAS CEO, says

Service delivery will continue as usual after 1st July and our ambitions for people in Doncaster remain the same. Joining Project 6 offers new opportunities to innovate our service design and delivery for the benefit of everyone accessing our support in Doncaster and also ensures sustainability going forward. This means we can continue to develop and expand local services that meet the changing needs of local people.
